I Thessalonians 5:9-10
For God decided to save us through our Lord Jesus Christ, not to pour out His anger on us. He died for us so that we can live with Him forever... (New Living Translation)

Luke 4:14-22
Then Jesus returned to Galilee, filled with the Holy Spirit's power. Soon he became well known throughout the surrounding country. He taught in their synagogues and was praised by everyone. When he came to the village of Nazareth, his boyhood home, he went as usual to the synagogue on the Sabbath and stood up to read the Scriptures. The scroll containing the messages of Isaiah the prophet was handed to him, and he unrolled the scroll to the place where it says:

The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, for He has appointed me to preach Good News to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim that captives will be released, that the blind will see, that the downtrodden will be freed from their oppressors, and that the time of the LORD's favor has come.

He rolled up the scroll, handed it back to the attendant, and sat down. Everyone in the synagogue stared at him intently. Then he said, "This scripture has come true today before your very eyes!" (New Living Translation)

And can it be that I should gain an interest in the Savior's blood?
Died He for me, who caused His pain? For me, who Him to death pursued?
Amazing love! How can it be that Thou, my God, should die for me?

He left His Father's throne above; so free, so infinite His grace!
Emptied Himself of all but love, and bled for Adam's helpless race!
'Tis mercy all, immense and free, for, O my God, it found out me.

Long my imprisoned spirit lay fast-bound in sin and nature's night.
Thine eye diffused a quickening ray; I woke--the dungeon flamed with light!
My chains fell off, my heart was free! I rose, went forth, and followed Thee!

No condemnation now I dread (Romans 8:1-8), Jesus, and all in Him, is mine! (Romans 8:16-17)
Alive in Him, my living Head (Colossians 3:3-4),
and clothed in righteousness divine, (2 Corinthians 5:21)
Bold I approach the eternal throne (Hebrews 4:16),
And claim the crown, through Christ my own (2 Timothy 4:8).
