To victims of our domain name being spoofed
For at least a year, our web domain (www.rockscryout.com) has received requests from people asking us to "stop sending them spam" (Unsolicited E-Mail).
Rocks Cry Out does not send out bulk e-mail.
We never have.
We have learned that some person or persons have been "spoofing" our domain name by sending out Unsolicited Bulk E-mail (UBE) that use bogus names and sender's e-mail address in the "From" field.
The fact that the "sender" appears to have a "rockscryout.com" e-mail address makes it look like it came from our domain
Example:
Message-id: <000a01c6d7c1$2fa0e02f$b98b85db@zgqxr.ncssf>
Date: Thu, 14 Sep 2006 13:39:40 +0800
From: Anthony Herbert <lpnyps@rockscryout.com>
To: your e-mail address
Subject: sheik butter
Some of the e-mails contain advertisements for "penny stocks" touting projected investment return of these stock symbols.
Some of the e-mails contain advertisements for pharmeceuticals and instruct the recipient to follow a URL link in the body of the e-mail to purchase various drugs.
There are at least two victims injured by Spoofing: the recipient who recieves annoying spam, and the innocent person or company who appears to have sent the e-mail and gets blamed for the annoyance.
and may become a victim of "phishing".
